Created by Ashley Kagan, parrot trainer and community educator, Nyxie Bird Boutique is a small business in Arlington Heights, Illinois committed to providing bird lovers with the supplies needed to enrich the lives of their feathered companions.

Ashley received her MS degree in conservation biology from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and has spent most of her life working with animals. From dog grooming to clinical care, AZA certified zookeeper to behaviorist and trainer, Ashley has combined her education with her professional experiences to promote responsible and enriching animal care.

Nyxie is Ashley’s beloved Pineapple Green Cheek Conure and the inspiration for this incredible birdie boutique. Nyxie hatched in 2023 with splayed legs and a fiery spirit. Applying her clinical animal care experience with early intervention, Ashley was able to reduce the severity of Nyxie’s condition. Unable to resist her amazing personality, Ashley adopted Nyxie.

Knowing firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate through all the contrasting recommendations for toys and enrichment online, Ashley decided to create her own shop with monthly educational blogs instead. Every creation and toy-making part is made with bird-safe material and has been Nyxie approved.
